What is a PDO facelift?

PDO threads have been used for a long time in the medical world. Suturing incisions after medical procedures and treating gynecological disorders have safely kept these threads around for centuries. This specific procedure entails the tiny threads being used to basically anchor the skin in place, making it more taught. Not only does it instantly lift the skin by pulling up but it contracts the fat tissue causing instant tightening, as well. These little magic threads also help stimulate collagen production to enhance volume and revitalize the skin.

How long will it take?

It depends on how much of the face is being treated, but most treatments take between 15-30 minutes.

How is it done? Will it hurt?

First, a topical numbing agent will be given, as well as a localized anesthetic. A very tiny needle, or cannula, is inserted into the skin to be an anchor and the excess threads are cut off. The needles used are so tiny that most people don’t even feel discomfort, especially since they are numb.

How long will it last?

This isn’t a permanent facelift but it does last fairly long.  Because of the simplicity it only lasts between 6 and 9 months before the PDO threads dissolve on their own. After that amount of time, it’s recommended to go back and determine whether another treatment is needed. There are a lot of factors that contribute to the longevity of the results, such as the thickness of your skin, the threads used, and how quickly your body metabolizes them. You shouldn’t need another treatment for about 3 years after that, though! Not bad!

Now that you know how quick, easy, and painless the PDO facelift is, maybe you want to call and schedule a consultation with Bala Better Health Philadelphia’s Premier Medspa.
